Calendar Whiplash (F1 → Aug, Easter Early) — RevTech Beats Market Every Month

MAIN-5-1

Industry

Challenge

Budapest RevPAR was trending negative in early ’25 (−4% YoY in Jan). Calendar shifts distorted demand: Easter moved earlier (Mar vs Apr ’24) and the Hungarian GP shifted to August (from July). The hotel needed stronger Booking.com visibility and pricing discipline without adding headcount.

Results

Five consecutive months beating the Budapest market by +6–11 percentage points (avg +9 pp) within 30 days of go-live. In the worst month (July), RevTech cut the market decline by ~44% (−14% vs market −25%).

About our Customer

Mid-scale city hotel in Budapest (52 rooms) with a strong OTA mix. Lean commercial team; limited time for constant listing refreshes and hyper-local price moves.

The Challenge

  • Market headwinds and event shifts created uneven demand and pricing pressure.

  • Listings had gone static; search visibility slipped in softer weeks.

  • Risk of “fire-sale” rates to chase occupancy, harming RevPAR.

The Solution

  • Hyper-local pricing cadence: Daily overrides around concerts, conferences, and last-minute city breaks.

  • Listing refresh: New cover-photo order, amenity tagging, and keyword inserts to lift search visibility.

  • Floor-price discipline: Automated rules prevented race-to-the-bottom pricing during dips.

  • Lightweight access: Guest-level Booking.com access (property info + performance only; no guest data).
